Staff spotlights: Catherine Larsen

Cat Larsen, Head of Talent
When did you start at Arken? 07/03/2022.
Responsible for: Head of Talent.
Happiest when: I am spending time with family and friends. Also, when I am travelling Europe with my husband.
Where is your favourite place to be? New Zealand (home).
Best place you’ve travelled to? Greece and Croatia (equally).
Favourite line from a movie? “May the Force be with you.“ Star Wars.
If you could pick anyone, who would be your mentor? Rob Campbell, a colleague I used to work with at Facebook and was fortunate enough to be mentored by him. He is an exceptional recruiter and leader.
How would you best describe Arken? An amazing team of talented people who are friendly, supportive and driven to succeed.
This year I will mostly be? Helping the Arken team grow, and training for a half marathon.
Anything that would surprise us about you? I had a Covid wedding in June 2020 which we organised in one week due to the restrictions before moving to Dublin.
Top productivity tip? Your calendar is your best friend. Plan your weeks in advance, keep a working ‘to do list’ to add to and tick off tasks throughout the day.
Something you learned in the last week? I spent my first week meeting with members of the team at Arken, and learned they all had such positive things to say about the company culture, leadership and working environment. It was great to see this aligns with my experience of the company through the hiring process.
If you could meet anyone, who would it be? Michael McIntyre, a comedian I follow.
Why have you made the move into legal technology? I have spent my career hiring for technology companies and always had a keen interest in legal technology. I had worked for Dave Newick, our CEO previously and I am excited about the growth plans of Arken in the legal technology space.
