LPA120 Fee Exemption and Remission Form Changes

June 2, 2026

Following the recent update to the Office of the Public Guardian’s LPA120 form, our in-house lawyer, Krithika, explains what has changed, why the form has been updated, and how Arken Professional has been enhanced to support firms using the latest version within their LPA drafting workflow.

Arken Professional has been updated to support the latest version of the Office of the Public Guardian’s LPA120 form, used where an applicant is applying for help with paying power of attorney fees.

The LPA120 form is submitted alongside a lasting power of attorney where an application is being made for either a fee exemption or a fee remission. The Office of the Public Guardian has recently updated the form and accompanying guidance, including changes to the way information is requested.

What has changed?

Arken Professional now includes support for the updated LPA120 form within the LPA drafting workflow.

This update includes:

  • Integration of the updated OPG LPA120 form; and
  • Additional guided questions aligned to the new form requirements

Context for practitioners

Fee exemptions and remissions remain part of the standard LPA registration process administered by the Office of the Public Guardian.

Where the relevant person is eligible, the LPA120 form can be used to apply for either:

  • an exemption, where no registration fee is payable; or
  • a remission, where the registration fee is reduced.

The recent update relates to the form and associated guidance. It does not change the purpose of the application, which remains to support those who may be eligible for help with paying the registration fee.

Practical implications

For firms using Arken Professional, the update will support the use of the most current OPG form version within the drafting process.

Supporting the LPA workflow

This enhancement sits within the wider LPA drafting functionality in Arken Professional, including document generation, data mirroring and validation tools.

The LPA product tours have also been updated to reflect the new LPA120 form and demonstrate how it is now incorporated into the drafting workflow.
